WHAT IS VEGETABLE TANNING?
Vegetable tanning is a traditional leather tanning process that uses natural tannins found in plant materials such as tree bark, leaves, and roots. This method has been practiced for centuries and is known for producing the highest-quality and most durable leather.
Vegetable tanned leather is also more expensive than chrome tanned leather because vegetable tanning is a time-consuming process, often taking several weeks to complete.
Leather produced through vegetable tanning is firm and can develop a rich patina over time, enhancing its natural beauty and uniqueness. The natural tannins give the leather a range of warm, earthy colors, which can darken and change with use and exposure to light.
This type of leather is commonly used for high-quality products such as luxury belts, wallets, shoes, bags and saddlery, where durability and aesthetic appeal are equally important.
Please note that due to our sourcing method, stock availability is limited and out-of-stock items cannot be restocked.
